DIY Drawstring Backpack Tutorial | Days 21-24 of 30 Day Sewing Challenge

Hello and welcome to Days 21-24 of our 30 Day Learn to Sew Challenge! Today we begin a new project where we'll make a drawstring backpack using my pattern named, Burkett. This tutorial has been divided up into four short videos to make the project more manageable and beginner-friendly.

This hands-free drawstring backpack will keep your belongings secure while traveling and going about your day. It’s lightweight and minimalist which makes it a practical companion to take to school, sports, the gym, flea markets, and even as a carry-on.

This pattern will teach you an easy method for creating a zipper pocket, it will get you comfortable sewing with a mix of different fabrics, how to make and attach a drawstring closure using grommets and premade bias tape, and lots of helpful tips along the way!

If you haven’t already, please make sure to purchase this pattern before beginning the tutorial. You can find it HERE on our website, or you can request it at your local quilt shop.

Enjoy the tutorial, and if you have any questions, please comment below!
