I went to my annual March Quilting Retreat and completed this bag in two days. I am very pleased at how it turned out. All Cotton with brass feet on the bottom. I followed the video that was made with MSQ and being a visual learner - it was very helpful! I must say, I almost didn't walk home with it - so many wanted to claim it for themselves.
Thank you so much, Mary! It’s wonderful to hear you finished your Hamilton bag during your quilting retreat — two days is impressive! It is absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing all the photos of your Hamilton. We’re glad the MSQ video was helpful, especially since you’re a visual learner. And it’s always a good sign when everyone else wants to claim your bag! We’d love to see you share it in our Sallie Tomato Patterns & Hardware Facebook group-it is very inspiring! Happy sewing!
I made this for an upcoming trip, and it was an amazing as a carry on. It’s very roomy! I used water repellent nylon fabric for the outside and quilting cotton for the interior.

I made this duffel bag for my husband and he absolutely loves it! I used waxed canvas for the main exterior and waterproof canvas for the handles, accents and interior lining. This is a fantastic pattern and the video tutorial was very helpful too. I plan to make one for myself too.

Who we are
sallie tomato
Hey friend! I'm Jess, the Founder of Sallie Tomato. I originally opened my shop in 2014 during college. I began by selling items that I had sewn myself. It wasn’t until 2016 that I released my first pattern, the Puppy Pillow. Now, my passion is to design quality sewing patterns, so you can create too!
Sallie Tomato provides sewing patterns, purse hardware, handbag zippers, cork fabric, and select sewing supplies for bag making.
The name of my shop developed around my middle name, Sallie. Also, the tomato pin cushion is a well-recognized symbol of sewing. Thank you for visiting my website!
