My latest project was the Bertie Wallet, a smaller peice than other wallet options. It works when I take a smaller bag. Directions were clear to follow and of course, the videos fill in because a picture is worth 1000 words. I also used Chicago screws for this project. Sallie's hardware really gives a finished look.
I have used several of Sallie's patterns and tutorials. They are clear and concise so that all levels of sewists can follow them.
Thank you so much, Kay!
We’re thrilled to hear (and see) how much you enjoyed making the Bertie Wallet — cork is such a great choice for this smaller style, especially when you’re carrying a more compact bag. We love how yours turned out. We’re glad the clear instructions and video support made the process smooth, and we love that you incorporated Chicago screws for that extra polished finish. Sallie’s hardware really does complete the look.
It means so much to hear that you’ve made several of our patterns and found the tutorials clear and concise for all skill levels. If you’d ever like to share your latest cork wallet or any of your other makes, we’d be delighted to see them in the Sallie Tomato Facebook Group. Your projects always inspire the community.
love this pattern and still deciding on the cork I want to use. Thanks
Thank you so much, Norma! I’m thrilled you’re enjoying the Bertie Wallet pattern. Deciding on the cork is such a fun creative moment. If you’d like to share your options or your finished wallet, our Sallie Tomato Patterns & Hardware Facebook group would love to see it.
Easy to follow instructions and turned out great.
Thank you so much, Patty! It’s wonderful to hear the Bertie Wallet was an easy, enjoyable sew and that your finished piece turned out beautifully. If you’d like to share it, our Sallie Tomato Patterns & Hardware Facebook group would love to see it.
The pattern is as good as all these patterns. From Sallie tomato
Thank you so much, Pamela! We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed the Bertie Wallet pattern. It means a lot to know it measures up to the rest of your Sallie Tomato favorites. We hope you have fun sewing it up! We would love to see it in our Sallie Tomato Patterns and Hardware Group on Facebook. Happy sewing.
When I buy a pattern I expect to get all pattern pieces, not to have to make pieces. The instructions were very simplified and brief, and I had to view the video instructions to understand the process.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Judi. I’m sorry to hear the Bertie Wallet instructions felt a bit brief to you — we always want our patterns to feel clear and supportive from start to finish. The Bertie pattern includes 5 pages of instructions and 30 illustrations to walk through each step, but I understand that everyone has different learning styles, and sometimes having every piece printed out can make the process feel more comfortable.
Some of the smaller rectangles are cut‑to‑size rather than provided as templates, which helps keep the pattern streamlined, but I completely understand how having all pieces included would have made things easier for you. I’m glad the video helped fill in the gaps, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to let us know what would have made the experience better — feedback like yours helps us continue improving. Happy Sewing.
Who we are
sallie tomato
Hey friend! I'm Jess, the Founder of Sallie Tomato. I originally opened my shop in 2014 during college. I began by selling items that I had sewn myself. It wasn’t until 2016 that I released my first pattern, the Puppy Pillow. Now, my passion is to design quality sewing patterns, so you can create too!
Sallie Tomato provides sewing patterns, purse hardware, handbag zippers, cork fabric, and select sewing supplies for bag making.
The name of my shop developed around my middle name, Sallie. Also, the tomato pin cushion is a well-recognized symbol of sewing. Thank you for visiting my website!
