This minimalist tote has been quintessentially refined in all the right ways. It’s perfect for the office and for out shopping. The entire bag is made from only one fabric (so there is no lining) which makes it a very beginner-friendly project, and gives it the appearance of a high-end leather bag. Add an optional magnetic snap closure. I've included instructions for three different types of magnetic snaps.

FEATURES: Two exterior slip pockets, boxed bottom corners, an optional magnetic snap closure, an interior slip pocket, and comfortable should straps

PATTERN DIFFICULTY: 1 Novice

RECOMMENDED FABRICS: For the best results, use faux leather or cork fabric.

Main Fabric - exterior, pockets, straps, and optional magnetic snap cover 25” wide - 32 inches required

HARDWARE REQUIRED: Optional - Choose between one type of magnetic snap:

(1) 2” Invisible Bar Magnetic Snap - STS216

(1) 3/4” Invisible Round Magnetic Snap - STS223

(1) 3/4” Standard Magnetic Snap - STS158x available in nickel (S), gold (G), antique (A), gunmetal (B), and rose gold (C)

Included with this purchase is the pattern cover and the pattern instructions. Each of our patterns are complete with step-by-step illustrations to help make the written directions easier to understand. Included are many sewing techniques and tips to help you achieve a quality, finished project. Each pattern is designed to help you learn and expand your sewing skills!

Most patterns are measured and cut, which means that the pieces will need to be cut with a rotary cutter, ruler, and cutting mat. Some patterns may include templates for shaping and/or cutting out the pieces.

Trace or photocopy the pattern piece(s) onto a separate sheet of paper. If printing or copying template(s), print at 100% or actual size. Measure the test square provided in the pattern to ensure the pieces are the correct size. Tape corresponding pieces together before cutting fabric, aligning red lines, shapes, and outer edges. It’s also helpful to write the name and cutting instructions on each pattern piece. Cut out pattern pieces along solid black lines, unless otherwise stated.

Great Basic Tote

I love the design and found the instructions easy to follow. I have some experience in bagmaking, so I made some additions to the pattern.
I added a back exterior slip pocket same as in the front. I also added lining with an interior zip pocket and slip pocket. Finally I added a recessed zipper. Very pleased with the result. Thanks for a great free pattern.

Great bag

Great bag, so easy to sew. Many of my friends have asked me to make them one. I did a few upgrades as I made it, I lined it, added a zipper closure inside incase just for safety, magnets at the top(they are wonderful and VERY STRONG. Added a strap inside to hold keys and fob. Actually put another outside pocket on both sides of bag. Love this bag and so versatile, great size and goes anywhere🤩
