You'll find lots of uses for the Bette bag! This pattern has been designed to be used as a travel organizer for toiletries, cosmetics, essential oils, art supplies, and more!  It would also make a great lunch bag or small cooler without the organizer or bottle holders. The name of this pattern was inspired by the classic movie actress, Bette Davis.

Included with this purchase is the pattern cover and the pattern instructions. Each of our patterns are complete with step-by-step illustrations to help make the written directions easier to understand. Included are many sewing techniques and tips to help you achieve a quality, finished project. Each pattern is designed to help you learn and expand your sewing skills!

Most patterns are measured and cut, which means that the pieces will need to be cut with a rotary cutter, ruler, and cutting mat. Some patterns may include templates for shaping and/or cutting out the pieces.

Trace or photocopy the pattern piece(s) onto a separate sheet of paper. If printing or copying template(s), print at 100% or actual size. Measure the test square provided in the pattern to ensure the pieces are the correct size. Tape corresponding pieces together before cutting fabric, aligning red lines, shapes, and outer edges. It’s also helpful to write the name and cutting instructions on each pattern piece. Cut out pattern pieces along solid black lines, unless otherwise stated.

Bette Bag

I love this bag. I made a few for Christmas gifts last year and have more requests this year. This bag holds a lot of cosmetics, etc.

Your bag is just lovely. Thank you for sharing. They also make great mini lunchboxes or mini coolers using the insulating batting we sell. Let us know if we can be of assistance. We hope everyone loves there gifts. If not a member-you may want to join our Sallie Tomato Patterns and Hardware Group on Facebook for more inspiration and to show off your makes. It is a very helpful group. Happy Sewing.

Great Pattern!

I'm not a hugely experienced bag maker, mostly sticking to drawstrings until now! But this pattern looked like the perfect bag for my eSpinner. I did have to change the measurements, so working out the sizes for the pattern pieces was in itself a challenge, but the instructions were detailed and clear. The only issues I had came from adding an extra layer of batting so my eSpinner is super safe, and where I changed the measurements. Despite that I think I have a pretty successful bag, not perfectly neat, but given my relative inexperience and alterations it's really pretty good! Any issues were absolutely created by me, not the pattern which was excellent.

I bought the paper pattern locally with the fabric.

Wonderful result with all of your hard work to make this successful. We appreciate seeing the finsihed product too. Thank you for the review. We also have a great Facebook group-Sallie Tomato Patterns and Hardware group to join to show off your makes and more inspiration. Happy Sewing!

I found it mostly easy. But I must have flipped to the front page to decide the abbreviations and mostly the ABCDEFGH…… letters 20 times. Be nice to have a decode in the corner of each page as the pieces are used.
A reference to how to use zipper by the yard would been good but I found it. My zipper did not have a lead as it was cut from the spool at the show, video did not address that but I got it.
Because of this I wouldn’t class this as beginner. The sewing part was easy but I’m not sure how two layers of cork would turn inside out any better than 2 of vinyl.
I also have the Carlton to sew I will know more when I make Betty and it the next time. My first Sallie Tomato.
I’m a happy buyer.

sallie tomato

Hey friend! I'm Jess, the Founder of Sallie Tomato. I originally opened my shop in 2014 during college. I began by selling items that I had sewn myself. It wasn’t until 2016 that I released my first pattern, the Puppy Pillow. Now, my passion is to design quality sewing patterns, so you can create too!

WHAT WE SELL

Sallie Tomato provides sewing patterns, purse hardware, handbag zippers, cork fabric, and select sewing supplies for bag making.

SHOP NAME HISTORY

The name of my shop developed around my middle name, Sallie.  Also, the tomato pin cushion is a well-recognized symbol of sewing.  Thank you for visiting my website!
