I am really happy how this bag turned out. I used waxed canvas for the exterior with cotton accents, the waterproof fabric for the lining, and insulation fabric for the front pocket lining. I really appreciate the videos to help me. I did struggle a bit with the front pocket since I wanted the special lining for ice packs and bottles. A lot of sewing and ripping but it was worth the final result!
Hi Risanway,
Thank you so much for your review! Your Tripper Diaper Backpack is absolutely fantastic. Waxed canvas with cotton accents, waterproof lining, and insulated pockets—what a thoughtful and durable combination. I’m so glad the videos were helpful along the way. The fussy cutting of the accents is perfect!
That front pocket can definitely be a bit of a challenge, especially when adding special lining for ice packs and bottles. All that sewing and ripping takes patience, but it’s wonderful to hear the final result was worth it. Your dedication really shows.
We appreciate you sharing your experience and creativity with us! If you would like to share in our Sallie Tomato Patterns and Hardware Group Facebook page, I am sure it will be inspiring to others. Happy sewing!!
It's a great pattern for a diaper bag. I did modify some parts because of using vinyl as the exterior.
Thank you so much, Twyla! I’m glad to hear the Tripper worked well as a diaper bag — it really is a versatile pattern. Modifying a few parts for vinyl is such a smart adjustment, and I’m happy to see it came together nicely for you. It is so beautiful with that fabric combination that you chose. Simply gorgeous! We’d love for you to show it off in our Sallie Tomato Patterns and Hardware Facebook group!
I have been dreaming of making an up-cycled denim Tripper for ages. The pattern came together very well, everything fit great! I'm looking forwards to using my Tripper as an overnight/weekend bag.
Thank you so much for your review! An up‑cycled denim Tripper sounds absolutely amazing — and yours looks fantastic. I appreciate you sharing it here in your review. I’m thrilled to hear the pattern came together well and everything fit just right. Enjoy using your Tripper as your new overnight/weekend bag; it’s such a great style for travel! We’d love to see it in the Sallie Tomato Facebook Group. Cannot wait to see what you make next!
I am sorry but I can't give a good note. I am struggling a lot because you don't have draw the pieces in A4. As I haven't a inches ruler, I have to convert each measurement. It's tiering. And we don't have a global vision of what each peace is for, some seam very big. I have to go back an forth to understand each peace. I just took a long time to create each peace in paper that would have been so easer if you just have made A4 patterns. And as I am a French, more drawing would have been more help. Thanks
Thank you, Emmanuelle, for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear you had difficulty working with the Tripper pattern in inches and without A4‑sized pieces. We understand how challenging conversions can be, and we truly appreciate your suggestions about including A4 layouts and more drawings. We’ve started converting many of our patterns to metric to better support makers worldwide, and your input reinforces how important this is. We hope you’ll still enjoy your finished Tripper bag, and we’d love to see it shared in our Sallie Tomato Patterns & Hardware Facebook group, where fellow makers can connect and inspire each other. Happy Sewing.
Came as described, very happy with pattern
