The Joanna mini drawstring backpack is the perfect size for just the essentials. The sleek style and roomy interior of this bag make it easy to carry everyday as a hands-free purse, or as a personal bag while traveling. Adjusting the shoulder straps for a comfortable fit or grab it by the handle. The name and design of this pattern was inspired by the classic movie starring Audrey Hepburn, Two for the Road.

FINISHED SIZE: 9-3/4" high, 8-1/4" wide, and 6-1/4" deep (24.77cm high, 20.96cm wide, and 15.88cm deep)

HARDWARE REQUIRED: All of the hardware required for this pattern is included in our Joanna Hardware Kit. In addition, you can add an optional Tassel and Handmade Label. More additional optional hardware can be listed if on the back of the pattern cover.

ZIPPER REQUIRED: This pattern requires a 7" single slide zipper. Shop our selection of Faux Metal Zippers by the Yard, to achieve the professional appearance of metal zipper teeth, but with ease of sewing with nylon!

Included with this purchase is the pattern cover and the pattern instructions. Each of our patterns are complete with step-by-step illustrations to help make the written directions easier to understand. Included are many sewing techniques and tips to help you achieve a quality, finished project. Each pattern is designed to help you learn and expand your sewing skills!

Most patterns are measured and cut, which means that the pieces will need to be cut with a rotary cutter, ruler, and cutting mat. Some patterns may include templates for shaping and/or cutting out the pieces.

Trace or photocopy the pattern piece(s) onto a separate sheet of paper. If printing or copying template(s), print at 100% or actual size. Measure the test square provided in the pattern to ensure the pieces are the correct size. Tape corresponding pieces together before cutting fabric, aligning red lines, shapes, and outer edges. It’s also helpful to write the name and cutting instructions on each pattern piece. Cut out pattern pieces along solid black lines, unless otherwise stated.

This is a very nice sized bag and the instructions and video are excellent. The one thing that made it difficult were the grommets (as another reviewer mentioned) I believe that longer screws would help, especially if one uses a thicker substrate and fabric. That is the only reason I gave it 4 stars. Just avoid the grommets if you do not have the proper cutting tools and are using thicker material.

A very nice smaller-sized backpack. I, too, had trouble with the grommets as the screws are too short if one adds any foam or thick substrates to the bag.
I managed to get them to stay by using the E6000 glue although one still came off (I re-glued it).

We appreciate you sharing your experience with the grommets. Adding foam or thicker materials can sometimes make installation more challenging, and your tip about using E6000 glue may be helpful for other makers working with similar substrates. Clipping out the extra foam can be helpful as well if you are using a heavy canvas. Great little bag

I really like this bag; however, it has been hard for me to find the grommets here in Houston, TX. My bag is unfinished because of that little factor.

i really enjoyed this bag, however, i am not a fan of grommets. i could not get them right. i either cut hole too small and the fabric shows through or i cut them too big. i did find that this was the easiest bag to sew of the sally patterns I have sewn so far.
