Be ready to go anywhere with the Casey duffle bag as your travel companion! There is plenty of room inside to fit everything you need for a weekend getaway. This duffle bag is a thoughtful combination of high-end details and functional design. The top zipper closure opens extra wide so it’s easy to access items inside your bag. The name and design of this pattern was inspired by the classic TV series, Ben Casey, and my two best friends.

FINISHED SIZE: 16” wide, 9" high and 7” deep.

PATTERN DIFFICULTY: 3 Intermediate

FEATURES: accented double side zipper closure, carry handles, two exterior slip pockets, two interior slip pockets, adjustable strap, folded sides

HARDWARE REQUIRED: All of the hardware required for this pattern is included in our Casey Hardware Kit. In addition, you can add an optional Small Rivets, Tassel and Handmade Label. More additional optional hardware can be listed if on the back of the pattern cover.

ZIPPER REQUIRED: This pattern requires a 22" double slide zipper. Shop our selection of Faux Metal Zippers by the Yard, to achieve the professional appearance of metal zipper teeth, but with ease of sewing with nylon!

Included with this purchase is the pattern cover and the pattern instructions. Each of our patterns are complete with step-by-step illustrations to help make the written directions easier to understand. Included are many sewing techniques and tips to help you achieve a quality, finished project. Each pattern is designed to help you learn and expand your sewing skills!

Most patterns are measured and cut, which means that the pieces will need to be cut with a rotary cutter, ruler, and cutting mat. Some patterns may include templates for shaping and/or cutting out the pieces.

Trace or photocopy the pattern piece(s) onto a separate sheet of paper. If printing or copying template(s), print at 100% or actual size. Measure the test square provided in the pattern to ensure the pieces are the correct size. Tape corresponding pieces together before cutting fabric, aligning red lines, shapes, and outer edges. It’s also helpful to write the name and cutting instructions on each pattern piece. Cut out pattern pieces along solid black lines, unless otherwise stated.

Somewhat hard to understand

I’ve made bags before, but I had to go between the written directions and the video more times than I can count. I thought yardage requirements were confusing as well. The bag turned out fine, my niece loves it, but it was a definite struggle.

Great bag

Good pattern, easy to follow.
However DO NOT use quilted cotton fabric for the outside. It’s too bulky for seams. Making another one eliminating foam and heavy interfacing.

High end look

This pattern is simple and luxurious. The pattern came together so well and has a luxury look. I did mine in faux leather and it turned out great! The hardware kit made it even easier

Well written pattern with good tutorial

While the bag was more challenging than expected due to challenges with the materials I chose for my domestic machine I’d still say confident beginner. It was my 4th bag ever and by far the biggest. I added a couple organization pouches and a wet bag for a complete travel set. I’ll make one again for myself.

A bit complicated but worth the effort!
I made two bags. I’d get through a few steps on one bag then repeat on the second bag.
