Poppie Cotton Cherished Moments Fabric Tour

Welcome to Day 4 of the Cherished Moments Fabric Tour!

This tour is a celebration of Poppie Cotton's new fabric collection debut. Poppie Cotton has invited makers from across the country to create an inspiring project made with their new fabric line. As an aspiring fabric designer myself, I'm honored to be a small part of this incredible fabric tour!

I decided to make one of my most popular patterns, The Ginger Bag, with Poppie Cotton's new collection. I love featuring small prints on this bag, so I chose "Cherish Teal" for the Main Fabric. The colors of this print are very soft and feminine. This print is very versatile. It could be used on projects for adults and children! Maybe even a matching Mother-Daughter purse would be fun!

For the lining, I used the "Dashwood Teal" print. Whenever I choose a fabric for the lining of a bag, I like to choose a light color. That way, when you look inside your finished bag, it's easier to see the items inside against the light color. (That's a tip I learned from my dear friend, Nancy Zieman.)

For the bottom of the bag and straps, I decided to incorporate some beige faux leather. We just introduced our first collection of faux leather this spring! It coordinates beautifully with Poppie Cotton's new collection. Since faux leather doesn't fray, I was able to leave one edge of the straps raw (which makes them quick and easy assemble)!  Also, I like using faux leather on the bottom of bags because it helps protect the bag and keep it clean.
