Welcome to the Paradigm Showcase Tour!
This tour is a celebration of Sarah Thomas's first fabric collection debut with Hoffman Fabrics, Paradigm. Sarah has invited makers from across the country to create an inspiring project made with her new fabric line. As an aspiring fabric designer myself, I'm honored to be a small part of her incredible journey as a fabric designer!
I decided to make my recently released Tiffany Bag with Sarah's new collection. I chose to make the body of the bag out of the "Denim" print. There are a lot of layers which adds depth and flow to the fabric. The swirls, triangles, butterflies, and dashed lines all work together beautifully! You can definitely tell this fabric was designed by a quilter! ;)
For the lining, I used the "Pink Lemonade" print. Whenever I choose a fabric for the lining of a bag, I like to choose a light color. That way, when you look inside your finished bag, it's easier to see the items inside against the light color. (That's a tip I learned from my dear friend, Nancy Zieman.)
For the bottom of the bag, side accent, and straps, I decided to incorporate some turquoise cork fabric. Turquoise is a brand new color I brought in for spring! It coordinates beautifully with Sarah's new collection. Since cork fabric doesn't fray, I was able to leave one edge of the straps raw (which makes them quick and easy assemble)! Also, I like using cork fabric on the bottom of bags because it helps protect the bag and keep it clean.
Lastly, this bag wouldn't have been complete without the hardware and zipper! I used our 3/4" Basic Hardware Kit in nickel, 3/4" Strap Arches in nickel, Dome Purse feet in nickel, and Zippers by the Yard in Grey with Nickel.
Follow along with the tour to see more amazing paradigm creations and get inspired!
