You’re invited to join Jess from Sallie Tomato and Ellen March from Sulky as we stitch our way into 2026 during our 6th Annual Virtual New Year’s Eve Sew Along! This year, we’re packing our bobbins and setting off on a creative adventure with a travel-inspired theme: “Made for the Journey.” Together, we’ll celebrate the New Year by making a project that’s both stylish and practical, the Lamont Sling Bag in the Mini Size.

Designed to keep you hands-free and ready for anything, the Lamont features sleek, sporty details, a roomy interior, and clever compartments that make it perfect for errands, travel days, or everyday adventures. Inspired by Lina Lamont from Singin’ in the Rain, this bag brings bold personality and timeless charm wherever you go.

Join us live on December 31st, 2025, from 12:00 - 4:00 PM ET for a fun-filled afternoon of stitching, learning, and celebrating! Don't worry if you can't join the live with us you can always watch the playback and follow along at your own pace!

Purchasing this kit will not register you for the event or receive the pattern. You must register for the event separately; please click HERE.
Preorder kits will ship in early December to receive in time for the event.
The PDF patterns for the Lamont Sling, In-the-Hoop Zipper Pouch, and In-the-Hoop Key Fob embroidery machine designs are not included with this kit, and are available upon event registration with Sulky.

Lamont Sling Bag

Loved the fabric and hardware to make the Lamont Bag and duo accessories. I got two kits (Urban Explorer and Island Hopper). I opted to watch the NYE sew-along and make the bag after. I completed the Urban Explorer first and was a little disappointed that I find the bag not comfortable to use because I am left-handed and the zipper opening is for a right-handed person. On my next bag I will mirror image and put the zippers on the other side. It would have been nice to have instructions.

Lamont

The Lamont sling bag was fairly easy to make until the bottom needed to be added. There was so much bulk that it was difficult to sew the bottom on. I would like to see additional tutorials on how to attach curved bottoms successfully.

The kit was complete except for the tools to attach the snap. This was not listed on the project list.

The directions were perfect until the strap. The directions said to use I or the shorter strap to attach to the top of the bag. In the video, Jess used the longer strap which turned out to be the best choice. I would recommend updating the instructions.

Curved bottoms can definitely create extra bulk, especially with thicker materials, and your suggestion for additional tutorials is a great one — we’ll keep that in mind for future educational content.

Regarding the snap tools, the snapsetter was listed under the In‑the‑Hoop Key Fob supplies on the New Year’s Eve Checklist, along with other helpful notions. But we understand how easy it is to miss when working across multiple project lists, and your feedback helps us see where we can make things even clearer.

Lamont bag

Didn't realize the kit only had enough to make to smaller bag. After the fact (way after) I see that but not something that was real apparent. Also wished Jess had briefly gone over the padded strap during the video or if there was a video to give a link for it. Didn't care for the new chat box. kept getting pop ups, had to reconnect and tried to make account. Not something you want to do when the live event is going on. Lastly if the coupon code to use was put in the chat. Mentioning it once isn't enough.

NYE sew along!

I loved the New Year Eve sew alongs. My sister and I have a blast. I usually sew it first then I help her do hers...which then hers comes out better because I learned from the mistakes I made. LOL! Anyway see y'all again at the end of this year 2026.
