I enjoyed making this bag and love the teal cork fabric. I’ve used the bag ever since finishing it. I bought enough cork that I am going to make a wristlet bag with the leftover fabric. Great product and easy to follow directions.
Hi Kathy,
Thank you for the lovely feedback! We’re delighted you enjoyed the Zippy pattern and that the teal cork made your bag extra special. It’s wonderful that you’ve been using it nonstop — that’s the best compliment a pattern can get. A matching wristlet from the leftover cork will be such a great addition. I love the Eiffel tower pulls as well.
We’d love to see both — show them off in the Sallie Tomato Patterns and Hardware Group, and happy sewing!
I am fairly new to bag making. I purchased this pattern to make a bag to take on vacation. I used cork and cotton fabric. The bag worked great for on the go carrying. I thought the pattern was great! Well written and like the pictures. The part I loved was the video that went along with the pattern. I am very visual. The video was a game changer for me. I could watch it again and again if I needed to, which I did.
I will definitely make more bags!
Thank you so much, Shelia!
We’re thrilled to hear how well your Zippy Bag turned out — especially as someone fairly new to bag making. Using cork and cotton is such a great combination, and it’s wonderful to know the bag worked perfectly for your vacation and on‑the‑go carrying.
We’re also so glad the pattern and photos were clear for you, and that the video made all the difference. Being able to rewatch steps is such a game changer for visual makers, and it’s great to hear it helped build your confidence.

Thank you so much, Deb! We’re thrilled to hear how much you enjoyed the Zippy Bags pattern. It’s such a fun make—and even better when it comes together quickly with clear instructions. So glad it was an awesome sew for you! We love both sides of the ones you shared and that embroidery gives it just that little extra.
I made the mini and I believe the dimensions you have for piece C should be 9 x 3 1/4 instead of 9 x 3 3/4. I may have done something wrong but if you shorten PC, the mini is 6 inches tall.
Thank you so much for your feedback! It sounds like the measurement difference you’re seeing is likely due to the seam allowance used when inserting the zipper. This should be 3/8' versus 1/4' for the rest of the bag. If a smaller or inconsistent seam allowance is taken, Piece C can appear too tall, which affects the finished height of the mini size.
Your note is still very helpful, and we appreciate you taking the time to share what you experienced while sewing. If you ever have questions while working through a pattern, feel free to reach out — we’re always happy to help! Your Zippy turned out great and we appreciate you sharing here. Happy Sewing!
