Introducing the Sallie Tomato Bag Makers Club – the ultimate subscription for advanced beginner bag sewists who are ready to explore new patterns, sharpen their skills, and unleash their creativity! Each month, we’ll feature a fresh, stunning bag design from a diverse lineup of talented designers, giving you a chance to experiment with unique styles and techniques.

What comes with membership?

  • Each shipment will include a bag sewing pattern (mostly PDF)**

  • The essential hardware, zippers, contrast materials, and structural elements you’ll need to bring your bag to life – minus the exterior and lining fabrics, allowing you to tap into your own fabric stash and create a one-of-a-kind bag in your personal style.

  • Sallie Tomato will release a designer interview to learn more about the designer and the featured bag pattern.

  • Shipping is included for domestic orders! 

As a member, you’ll gain exclusive access to sewing patterns, helpful tips, and step-by-step techniques, along with insightful designer interviews hosted on our Sallie Tomato YouTube channel. This isn’t just a subscription – it’s your invitation to be part of a vibrant community of passionate bag makers, learning from industry experts and discovering exciting new designs each month.

How it works: The Club subscription automatically renews each month. Subscribers will receive one package per month while a member of the club. The designer interview will be released on the Sallie Tomato YouTube channel on the 8th of the following month of shipment. (i.e. February box will ship at the end of February and its video will be released on March 8th.)

Important Dates: The first Bag Makers Club shipment will be shipped on February 28th. For New Members: The last day to sign up to receive this month's club shipment is the 20th. Members will be charged on the 20th of each month. Orders will ship by the 28th of the month. All shipments are pre-paid and your Initial Sign Up must be on or before the 20th of the month to guarantee your membership for that month! 

PDF Pattern Delivery Policy: The Bag Makers Club will feature patterns from a variety of Bag Pattern Designers. Your subscription box will contain instructions on how to download the pattern at no charge from our site or the designers’ website. Sharing of your name and email with other Bag Pattern Designers will only be used to deliver digital files or updates and verify purchase history. You will not receive any other emails from the Bag Pattern Designer without your consent or any other party on their behalf. 

Cancellation Policy: Monthly Subscription - You can cancel at any time. Future terms will not be billed. Clubs shipped are non returnable.

First bag club project

I am currently working on the first project. I had a little hiccup downloading the pattern/ directions. I have never used a square box before and got it downloaded in about 15 minutes, but it took about an hour to figure out where it was on my I pad. Then the iPad kept turning off every 3 minutes. Finally I talked with a friend about ways to get it on my laptop, I had to airdrop it. That worked fine, now to figure out how to get the u tube video on my tv so I can see it better! I have worked on the purse all day today and now have the front exterior finished. Tomorrow I’ll start on the back exterior panel. Then I’ll work on the lining, I figure about 2 weeks to finish it. I am enjoying the actual sewing part, I wish I had a paper pattern in the kit. I am not that great at all the computer tricks! Can we get the u tube video on the regular u tube Chanel on the tv?

It sounds like you've had quite the journey just getting everything set up, but it’s awesome that you’ve made so much progress already with the front exterior of the purse! I can imagine that working with digital patterns can be a bit tricky if you’re more used to paper ones, but it’s great that you’re still enjoying the sewing part!

As for getting the YouTube video on your TV, yes, you should be able to do that with a few different methods. If you have a smart TV, you can try these:

Casting from your iPad: If your TV supports AirPlay or Chromecast, you can directly cast the YouTube video from your iPad to your TV. Just swipe down from the top-right corner of your iPad to access the control center, tap the 'Screen Mirroring' or 'AirPlay' option, and select your TV.

YouTube app on your TV: If you have a smart TV with the YouTube app, you can just search for the video directly on your TV.

Casting via a streaming device (like Roku or Chromecast): If you have one of these, you can cast the video directly from your iPad to the TV using the YouTube app.

Since you mentioned you’re working on the bag for a couple of weeks, it’s nice that you’ll be able to watch the video at a comfortable size while sewing. Hopefully, that’ll make the whole process smoother!

Items in the kit are high quality as are all the hardware and zippers from Sallie Tomato. Package arrived nicely packaged. I was able to download the pattern today after having some difficulty. Looking forward to trying this pattern.

The high-quality materials make such a difference when crafting something by hand, and it's great that the packaging kept everything safe and organized. Hello, my name is Jessica Barrera and I'm the Founder of Sallie Tomato. I originally opened my shop in 2014 during college. I began by selling items that I had sewn myself. It wasn’t until 2016 that I released my first pattern, the Puppy Pillow. Now, my passion is to design quality sewing patterns, so you can create too!
