I absolutely love the look of these strap connectors. The problem lies in getting the fabric to stay in place. I thought they would assemble like a covered button - place the fabric over the metal plate then set the frame down over it securing the sides. Not the case, unfortunately. You cover the plate but when you lay it into the frame the fabric wants to peel up the sides. Hot glue is great but makes the piece too thick to fit in the frame. Vinyl is impossible. I love the concept but after many attempts, these are far too difficult to use. I wish someone could recreate the installation process because I would love to use them.

Hi Robin,

Thank you so much for your honest and detailed feedback. We’re truly sorry to hear that the strap connector installation didn’t meet your expectations—especially after your excitement about the look and concept. Your comparison to covered buttons is insightful, and we can absolutely see how that kind of assembly would feel more intuitive.

We appreciate you sharing the challenges with fabric adhesion and thickness, especially with vinyl. Your experience helps us better understand where improvements could be made, and we’ll be sure to pass your suggestions along to our product development team. If we’re able to revisit the design or offer an updated installation method, you’ll be among the first to know. I am also wondering if you would just try a craft glue instead of hot glue-you may find more success with that for your cotton fabric. Also make sure on the Faux leather or cork to cut enought fabric out of the corners so that you are able to get then close together.

Warmly,
The Sallie Tomato Team
