Ginger Bag

New Crossbody Bag for Beginners!

This is Ginger, an easy crossbody bag designed for beginners! I'm telling you, this pattern is SUPER EASY TO SEW! And FUN to make!  From start to finish, this bag only takes about four hours to make.  Ginger is very functional, and a great size for everyday use.

Choose to use cork fabric or vinyl for the contrast fabric if you’d like!  The name of this pattern was inspired by American actress, dancer, and singer, Ginger Rogers.

What you'll learn in this pattern:

Included are step-by-step graphics to help make the written directions easier to understand. There is a picture for almost every step. In this pattern you’ll learn how to add a magnetic snap, make a flap closure, create an interior slip pocket, assemble a handy zipper pocket, create darts to add shape and depth, and make an adjustable crossbody strap. Also included are many sewing techniques and tips to help you achieve a quality, finished project. The finished size is 11" wide, 10" high, and 3" deep. Also, I designed this bag so the Lucky Penny Wallet (my wallet pattern) will fit perfectly inside.

Easy Hardware Shopping

All of the hardware required for this pattern is included in the Myrna OR Ginger Hardware Kit, or can be purchased individually. Each kit is available in five colors: nickel, light gold, antique, gunmetal, and rose gold.

Easily cut and sew through the nylon teeth, while achieving the professional appearance of metal teeth. Cut the length of zipper you need, when you need it, for minimal waste.

Recommended Fabrics

You can use quilt weight cotton, canvas, denim, or linen for the exterior. I recommend quilt weight cotton for the lining. Try using cork or vinyl for the contrast, or you can use quilt weight cotton, canvas, denim, or linen. TIP – If making the bag from all cotton, you can eliminate the Interfacing and substitute the Fusible Fleece for Foam Stabilizer. This will result in a more structured bag. This bag has a more professional, long-lasting finish if the recommended fabrics are used. In addition, these fabrics have been tested so your sewing machine will have no problems sewing through the thickness.

I’m confident that anyone can make this bag if they want to! It’s a quick sew and fun to make! Share photos of this pattern using #SallieTomato and #GingerBag. Share in the Sallie Tomato Facebook Group, on Instagram, and other social sites! I hope you enjoy this pattern and enjoy sewing this stylish bag!
