Around the World: Your Itinerary Through Greenland!

We've created yet another itinerary for you to enjoy this trip "Around the World" in its entirety! We're still exploring new landmarks together for the rest of the year, so grab your bags! Whether it's a place you've never heard of before, or one of the 7 Wonders of the World, we're going to find out together, and visit iconic destinations every month!

In the month of June, we've been "visiting" one of the most frigid parts of the planet, that also happens to be the biggest island in the world. Check out this itinerary of Greenland, to make all of your "traveling" easy!

First up on the list...

1. Ilulissat Icefjord.

Sermeq Kujalleq is the name of the glacier at the base of the Ilulissat Icefjord, and it is an impressive one! It is the fastest glacier in the northern hemisphere, moving around 40 meters per day. This particular glacier is as huge as it is breathtaking! It is 6 kilometers wide and 45 kilometers long (about 3 3/4 miles wide and about 28 miles long) The glacier is known for dropping the same amount of ice in the water daily, which equals the annual consumption of water of the entire island of Manhattan - wow! Sermeq Kujalleq produces 10% of all icebergs in Greenland!

2. Tjodhildes Church.

This iconic landmark is located in Qassiarsuk - a place of historic significance, where ancient Viking ruins can be found, among the modern established sheep farming community. It's a quiet peaceful place, worth visiting just for its stunning setting on Eriksfjord. Altogether, this landmark is a great combination of history and modern-day Greenlandic life!

3. Restaurant Icefiord.

Lunch, with a view! This high-end restaurant is located in a hotel, overlooking the waters of Disko Bay and glaciers. The menu and vibe perfectly reflects the country and culture in Greenland. The kitchen uses products like fresh fish from the local fishermen and Greenlandic reindeer and musk ox from Kangerlussuaq. Enjoy Scandinavian & European dieshes, as well as vegetarian-friendly & gluten free menu options.

4. Northern Lights in Nuuk.

Chase the dancing Northern Lights and explore every corner of Greenland's capital city on a nighttime tour in the city of Nuuk. There are a few professional tour companies that will make your experience even more memorable, with heated transportation, as well as refreshments that will keep you nice and warm during your sightseeing. A MUST DO!

 5. Sisorarfiit Skiliften.
Visit this gimmering ski resort that sits atop a picturesque hill in Greenland. Enjoy snowboarding, skiing, as well as a cafe! The snowy scenery sure makes this a fun place to visit!
6. Cape Farewell.
Another must see landmark, the Cape Farewell is a headland on the southern shore of Egger Island. As the southernmost point of the country, it is one of the important natural attractions in Greenland, signifying beauty in nature!
7. Air Zafari.

AirZafari offers a chance to get an up close and personal encounter of this breathtaking landscape in Greenland with sightseeing flights, taking you over the ice cap, glaciers, enormous icebergs, arctic tundras and deserts, and the wildlife associated with these. Unlike scheduled airline flights, they fly at an ideal low altitude for the ultimate experience!

8. Tasermiut Camp.

Get in the great outdoors, and stay somewhere completely unique: at this campground that offers tours, and of course: camping! Go fishing in the creek, swimming in the lake, or take a stroll in the forest and in the evening, watch northern lights reflecting through the lake. In the morning before your breakfast and coffee, catch a sunrise coming from the beautiful mountains, I believe your breakfast will taste a lot better!

Although this is a shorter itinerary, we know that these breathtaking and fascinating destinations will make up for it! As you can see, there is so much to be explored in this gorgeous country of Greenland! Take some time out of your busy life, and visit this place in person someday. Thank you for joining us on this "trip" to Greenland!

Until next time!
