Meet Floral Reef by Tula Pink

Meet Floral Reef by Tula Pink

A collection made for makers who love bold bags and beautiful details

There are some fabric collections that you admire from a distance, and then there are the ones that pull you in and refuse to let go. Floral Reef by Tula Pink is very much the second kind.

From the moment we opened the bolts, it felt like stepping into another world. Not in a quiet, subtle way, but in that bold, electric, color-filled way that makes you immediately start planning your next project. It is vibrant, a little unexpected, and completely inspiring in the way only Tula’s designs can be.

But what makes this launch feel different for us is not just the fabric itself. It's the way everything comes together. The prints, the hardware, the zippers, the finishing details. It feels like an invitation to create something that is not just sewn but fully designed.

And of course, we could not just admire it. We had to make with it.

Inspired by the ocean, made for your next project

Floral Reef feels alive. That is the best way to describe it. There is movement in every print, little moments that catch your eye, and details that you do not notice until the second or third look.

There are seashells layered into backgrounds, fish swimming through florals, and colors that somehow feel both tropical and electric at the same time. It is the kind of collection that pushes you to be a little more creative, bolder, and maybe even try something you would not normally reach for.

When we started planning what to make, we knew right away that bags and accessories were what we wanted to see showcase this collection. A collection that is meant to be carried, shown off, and used every day.

This is where bag making gets really fun

If you’ve ever finished a bag and felt like something was missing, you already know how important the details are.

That’s exactly what this launch is all about.

We’re bringing in:

  • Hardware that complements the collection instead of competing with it
  • Zippers that actually match your fabric without the guesswork
  • Bag charms that add personality and a little bit of fun

It’s everything you need to make your project feel intentional and complete.

The Miranda tote was one of the first bags we made with Floral Reef, and it really helped set the direction for everything else. It’s a great pattern for showcasing larger prints, especially ones with a lot of movement and detail like this collection. The structure keeps it feeling polished, while still giving the fabric plenty of space to stand out. It also gave us a chance to play with contrast on the inside, which ended up being one of our favorite parts of the whole project.

We paired that really detailed reef print with a soft shimmer faux leather, and it gave the bag this balance that felt both structured and playful at the same time. From far away it looks clean and pulled together, but as soon as you get closer, all that color and detail start to come through.

The inside is this bright green checkerboard fabric. It’s unexpected in the best way. And the hot pink zipper running across the top just pulls everything together. It’s one of those details that feels small when you’re sewing it, but once the bag is finished, it’s the thing you notice every single time you use it.

The Ruth bag was a natural next choice when we wanted something a little more everyday. It has a simpler shape, which makes it really easy to wear, but that also means the material choices matter even more. Using the seashell print with clear vinyl added just enough interest without overcomplicating the design. It’s a really good example of how this collection can be styled in a more subtle, toned-down way while still feeling unique.

This one leans into the navy seashell print, and it has a totally different vibe. It feels calmer, a little more grounded, but still really interesting. The clear vinyl layered over the seashells adds just enough dimension without making it feel busy.

We kept the hardware and zipper details in that bright pink tone, which gave it just enough contrast to keep it from feeling too serious. It balances everything out and ties it back to the rest of the collection.

The Houdini pouches ended up being one of the most versatile projects we made. They’re small enough to experiment with, which makes them perfect for testing different fabric, vinyl, and zipper combinations. With Floral Reef, they really highlight how layering materials can change the look of a project. Even simple changes like switching a zipper color or adding a charm can make each one feel completely different.

The zippers, the pulls, the charms. Adding something like that anchor charm completely changes the feel of the pouch. It gives it movement, a little personality, something that makes it feel finished instead of just functional.

They’re also just fun to make. Quick enough that you can experiment, but interesting enough that you actually want to keep going.

It’s very easy to end up with a small stack of these before you realize it.

The binder pouch is one of those projects that you make because it’s useful… but this version doesn’t feel like something you’re making just to be practical.

The bright green base with those little fish swimming across it instantly makes it feel more playful. And then you add the clear vinyl layer and the pink hardware, and suddenly it’s something you actually want to carry around.

It turns organizing into something that feels a little more creative. Like even the everyday parts of your routine get to have some personality.

And once you have it sitting on your desk or tucked into your bag, it just makes everything feel a little more put together.

The Taylor pouch is one of those pieces that just quietly becomes your everyday go-to. It’s the perfect size to toss in your bag, but it still feels styled and intentional. The mix of that deep, almost inky faux leather with the bright reef print underneath gives it this really cool contrast. It feels a little moodier than the other pieces, but then you add that pop of pink in the zipper and anchor pull and it brings it right back into the Floral Reef vibe. It’s practical, but it doesn’t feel basic at all.

And then the Lily Lanyard kind of sneaks in and ties everything together. It’s simple, but in the best way. The soft neutral shimmer paired with the clear vinyl detail makes it feel like it belongs with every single piece in the collection. It’s the kind of thing you clip onto your keys or your bag and suddenly everything feels more put together. Not overdone, just thoughtful.

The fabric, the vinyl, the hardware, the zippers. None of it felt like an afterthought. It all played a role in how the final piece came together.

Choosing combinations, trying things you might not normally try, paying attention to the little details that make a bag feel finished.

It slows you down in a good way.
