What a year of creativity, connection, and unforgettable makes! Throughout 2025, the Bag Makers Club brought together an incredible lineup of designers—each with a project that challenged our skills, expanded our techniques, and filled our sewing rooms with inspiration. From sleek crossbodies to whimsical totes, bold slings to clever organizers, every month offered something new to love.
Here’s a look back at the makers, the moments, and the amazing bags that defined our year.
February – Blue Calla Designs: Zabelia Bag
We began our parade of designers with Celine Allaert of Blue Calla Designs and her beautiful Zabelia Bag. With sophisticated structure and smooth lines, this pattern became an instant favorite. Members enjoyed playing with materials and mastering the polished finish Blue Calla is known for.
This month’s Bag Maker’s Club kit features thoughtfully selected Sallie Tomato essentials to help you create a polished, professional-looking bag. Inside, you’ll find Brown Legacy Faux Leather, stabilizers and interfacing for beautiful structure, Brown 1” Webbing, and a coordinating #5 Zipper. The kit also includes Antique Hardware and Special Sewing Machine Zipper Pulls for a custom, boutique-style touch.
March – Country Cow Designs: Yasmota Bag
In March, Jo of Country Cow Designs brought us the Yasmota Bag, a roomy, modern carryall with the perfect balance of style and practicality. This project encouraged makers to experiment with color blocking and bold prints while enjoying Jo’s clear, thoughtful construction style.
This month’s Bag Maker’s Club kit features carefully selected Sallie Tomato details that give your bag a modern, polished look. Inside, you’ll find Charcoal Pebble Faux Leather, stabilizers and interfacing for great structure, Black 1” Cotton Webbing, piping cord, and a coordinating #5 Zipper in Grey. Gold Hardware, Rectangle Zipper Pulls, complete the kit, adding a refined, high-end touch to your finished bag.
April – Bagstock Designs: Marina Unisex Crossbody
April showcased Namrata Shroff of Bagstock Designs and the clean, everyday versatility of the Marina Unisex Crossbody. With its crisp silhouette and classic structure, it became a go-to make for members wanting a project that works for anyone.
This month’s kit brought together a beautifully balanced mix of Sallie Tomato components for a polished finish. Included with Bran Basket Weave Faux Leather for the contrast accents and straps, supported by a combination of stabilizers and interfacing that add shape and durability where it matters most. The kit includes coordinating #3 and #5 Zippers in Brown with a Rose Gold Finish, along with Rose Gold Hardware, Rectangle Zipper Pulls, and rivets to tie everything together.
May – Knotted Threads Co: Rosie Sling
Spring blossomed with the Rosie Sling from Shannon Timchula of Knotted Threads Co. This sleek, hands-free design gave makers a chance to tackle curves, hardware placement, and smart pocket details—an instant summer favorite.
This month’s Bag Maker’s Club kit is filled with Sallie Tomato pieces that make sewing a joy and give your bag a polished, boutique feel. You’ll use Rustic Rose Cork for the contrast panel, paired with stabilizers and fusible fleece for structure and softness. The kit also includes Striped Mountain Mist 1-½” Webbing, a coordinating #5 Zipper, and Nickel Hardware with Nautical Zipper Pulls and rivets for finishing touches.
June – Sew Hungry Hippie: Betty Bow Bag
June brought pure joy with Natalie Santini of Sew Hungry Hippie and the cheerful Betty Bow Bag. Playful, bold, and perfect for vibrant materials, this project let makers lean into creativity, color, and fun embellishments.
This month’s featured kit included elements that made the bag shine. Sewers worked with Universe Shimmer for the main fabric and Moonlight Shimmer for contrast, supported by hair canvas interfacing for structure. The kit included coordinating #5 Zippers in Black/Gunmetal and White/Rose Gold along with Jeweled Zipper Pulls for a sparkling finish.
July – NautiPup: Getaway Tote
July arrived with the everything-bag every maker dreams of: the Getaway Tote by Marty Fulton of NautiPup. Spacious, sturdy, and full of personality, it was the ideal summer-travel companion and a satisfying make for those who love structure.
This month’s kit included pieces to make creating your bag fun and satisfying. Sewers used Rustic Zircon for the contrast fabric, reinforced with fusible interfacing, Dura-fuse, and sew-in foam for the perfect balance of shape and support. The kit featured a coordinating #5 Zipper in Black/Antique, Antique Hardware, and round Purse Handles.
August – Linds Handmade: Tracy Wristlet
In August, Lindsay Scicluna of Linds Handmade delivered the clever Tracy Wristlet, a compact yet surprisingly roomy design that quickly became a member must-sew. Makers loved its versatility—great for gifting, markets, or keeping for yourself.
This month’s kit included materials chosen to make assembling your bag smooth and enjoyable. Sewers worked with Ecru Ostrich Leather for the main fabric, reinforced with Dura-fuse, fusible interfacing, and fusible fleece for structure and durability. The kit also featured a coordinating #5 Zipper in Beige/Nickel, and Nickel Hardware, to complete the details and give the bag a clean, polished look
September – Charlie’s Aunt: Gunton Messenger Bag
Autumn inspired nostalgia with the Gunton Messenger Bag from Emma Brennan of Charlie’s Aunt. With vintage charm and thoughtful shaping, this project brought a timeless, heritage-inspired aesthetic to sewing rooms across the club.
This kit included materials to make your bag both sturdy and stylish. Sewers used Bronze Rugged Faux Leather for the contrast pieces, supported by fusible interfacing, hair canvas, and sew-in foam for structure and durability. The kit also featured a coordinating #3 Zipper in Natural/Antique and Antique Hardware,
October – StudioKat Designs: Cignet Phone Pal
October highlighted smart design with the Cignet Phone Pal by Kat Southern of StudioKat Designs. Compact, hands-free, and incredibly useful, this project blended functionality with a tidy construction style that makers adored.
This month sewers worked with Amethyst Cork for the main and contrast fabric, supported by fusible interfacing and sew-in foam for structure and durability. The kit also included Black Nylon Webbing, a coordinating #5 Zipper in Purple/Gunmetal, and Gunmetal Hardware, giving the finished bag a sleek, polished look.
November – The Little Green Bean: Crafty Pocket Tote Bag
We wrapped up the year with cozy creativity through Missy of The Little Green Bean and the Crafty Pocket Tote Bag. Full of personality and—of course—pockets, it was the perfect year-end project for storing, gifting, and celebrating handmade joy.
Included materials were selected to make your bag sturdy and stylish. Sewers used Western Paisley Cork for the contrast fabric, reinforced with fusible interfacing and fusible fleece for shape and support. The kit also featured Railroad Tracks Blue 1-½” Webbing, a coordinating #5 Zipper in Navy/Gunmetal, and Gunmetal Hardware, giving the finished bag a clean, finished look.
November – The Little Green Bean: Crafty Pocket Tote Bag
Bianca, the designer behind Thanks I Made Them, is known for bold, modern designs that celebrate creativity and confidence. Her Metro Moves Clutch & Crossbody, featured in last month’s Bag Maker’s Club, is a versatile bag you can wear as a clutch, shoulder bag, crossbody, or waist bag. With thoughtful details like quilting, bias-bound seams, and customizable hardware, the pattern makes a stylish, functional bag that’s as fun to sew as it is to carry!
This month’s Bag Maker’s Club kit included Sallie Tomato materials designed to make sewing your bag smooth and enjoyable. Sewers worked with Navy Faux Leather Lite for the contrast fabric and Navy Legacy for the straps and handles, supported by fusible interfacing and fusible fleece for structure and durability. The kit also included Antique Hardware.
Each designer brought something special to the table: new skills, new styles, new ways to look at the art of bag-making. Together, we explored techniques from structured construction to playful patchwork, from vintage silhouettes to modern minimalist shapes.
Most of all, we shared a year of growth, inspiration, and community.
