I made a cork backpack with RFID fabric to use when I fly on trips. I bought the Traveler Bag pattern to use for a family wedding in Spain. I like the concept of the pattern but the pocket flap needs additional security to prevent passports & driver licenses from being scammed. Currently there is no way to add RFID fabric. Thus I had to put my traveler bag in my backpack when we were out & about. Could the flap be made with RFID fabric sandwiched together between 2 layers of cork placed wrong sides together?
Thank you so much for your feedback, Leueen. Your cork backpack with RFID fabric sounds fantastic—what a smart travel project. We’re glad you chose the Traveler Bag for your trip to Spain, and we appreciate you sharing your experience with the pocket flap.
You’re absolutely right that added RFID protection can give extra peace of mind when carrying passports and IDs. Your idea of sandwiching RFID fabric between two layers of cork placed wrong sides together is a great approach, and it would integrate well into the flap construction. We’ll review the pattern to see where we can offer clearer guidance for makers who want to add that extra layer of security. Your version turned out beautiful and we hope you will share in the Sallie Tomato Patterns and Hardware Group on Facebook.
Thank you again for taking the time to share your insight. We truly appreciate your thoughtful suggestions and your support of our patterns.

Very cute travel purse, can't wait to use it!! I love that there is a video to sew along with. Such great tips. I will definitely be making more!!!

For such a small bag I had to birth it. The challenge came because I made it out of vinyl and canvas. Very hard to birth. Not a fan of how to make the strap and the credit card slots were too flimsy. So had to cut them out. I also added velcro to the front inside flap because the flip lock didn’t give me the security of not losing a passport.
Even with adapting it to other fabrics, we think it turned out fantastic. Love your suggestion with the velcro for added security. Did you make the card slots our of faux leather or cork? We appreciate you sharing. If not a member-you may want to join our Sallie Tomato Patterns and Hardware Group on Facebook for more inspiration and to show off your makes. Happy Sewing!
Haven’t had a chance to start this yet, but really looking forward to making this for my cruise this fall.

Salut mon ami !
Merci d'avoir visité mon site internet!
